There were plenty, no doubt (And I'd love to hear anyone else's candidates!) but here's mine:
I was riding @ the back w/ Kyle from Louisiana (among others) and he was gettin' tired of the hills. At Checkpoint 6 he laid this jewel on me...............(for the full effect adopt a heavy southern drawl).........."Hey Mike, you know what I been thinkin' for the last 20 miles or so? I been thinkin' that last night @ dinner, when you were a-tellin' us that some of the folks in that room oughta shoot for the metric century 'stead of the full 100 I sure wish you'd-a pointed at me and said 'Kyle - I'm a-talkin' to you!'"
Other Kyle-isms: "I ain't never heard a no 95 mile ride to cure diabetes! (A the last checkpoint when he heard we nneded to shuttle folks closer to the hotel) After that I agreed to ride up Mendicino Ave towards downtown so that he could get his century. After a few miles he was talking himself out of that idea and the last thing he siad on the subject was "Well...they ain't gonna find a cure for diabetes any faster 'cuz I rode 100 miles today 'stead of 95."
Hard to argue w/ that!
Have a happy 4th weekend y'all.........ride on!
